Aitkin County District Court Overview

Juvenile records are more restricted. MCRO terms state that CHIPS and Juvenile Delinquency Felony 16 case types are not available remotely. Domestic abuse and harassment case types also have remote access limits.
Ninth Judicial District Context
Aitkin County belongs to Minnesota's Ninth Judicial District. The district is an administrative office overseeing district courts in 17 northwest Minnesota counties. Aitkin County Courthouse History
Aitkin County court history is unusually well documented by the Minnesota Judicial Branch. Before the first courthouse, court proceedings occurred in a leased schoolhouse. The first formal courthouse was completed in 1888 after Alexander Grant won the construction contract on a $13,200 bid. By 1920, a grand jury described that building as dangerous and deteriorated.
The current courthouse was completed in 1929 on the old courthouse site for $155,000. It was designed by the St. Paul firm Toltz, King and Day. The building uses white face brick and Bedford limestone and sits between Beaux-Arts and Moderne style. Interior features include marble wainscoting, oak woodwork, terrazzo floors, and stained-glass skylights.
